American Bangladeshi Community Foundation, Inc. (ABCFI) is a non-profit charitable organization. Its primary objective is to help meet the emergency needs of people in distress caused by natural or man-made events. In addition, it will participate in human development, education, health and welfare, and poverty alleviation programs.
ABCFI’s vision is to serve ALL people. In the process, it facilitates all people with the willingness and capacity to serve the humanity. Charitable monetary donation and voluntary participation are welcome that are the backbone in fulfilling ABCFI’s mission.
Our activity started during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 to alleviate the sufferings of people from hunger and basic needs. Donations from ABCFI members were distributed in the US and in Bangladesh.
ABCFI was formed by US citizens of Bangladeshi origin—hence the name! However, in the spirit of mosaic of the US–a multi-ethnic and multi-racial society–ABCFI seeks participation of ALL people from all walks of life in its mission. It is registered in the State of Maryland, and its activities will encompass in the US and globally. Seeing a need for energetic, nonprofit work in this area, we formed our organization to provide sensible solutions. The core team has been organizing the Iftaar program during Ramadan for about a decade at three Islamic centers in Montgomery County, Maryland. We’ve consistently grown since then, all thanks to the helping hands of this amazing community!
