Our History

Our activity started during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 to alleviate the sufferings of people from hunger and basic needs. Donations from ABCFI members were distributed in the US and in Bangladesh.

ABCFI was formed by US citizens of Bangladeshi origin—hence the name! However, in the spirit of mosaic of the US–a multi-ethnic and multi-racial society–ABCFI seeks participation of ALL people from all walks of life in its mission. It is registered in the State of Maryland, and its activities will encompass in the US and globally. Seeing a need for energetic, nonprofit work in this area, we formed our organization to provide sensible solutions. The core team has been organizing the Iftaar program during Ramadan for about a decade at three Islamic centers in Montgomery County, Maryland. We’ve consistently grown since then, all thanks to the helping hands of this amazing community!
